On the 6th August 1962, the union flag was lowered in Jamaica and the new green gold and black was raised to signal a new era for the island. This was celebrated at the time on many records, and so today, 50 years on, I’m picking out a few of my favourites from those heady times, plus a few more celebratory Jamaican tunes in the House of Reggae’s Independence Special… Prince Buster All Stars – August 1962
